Cancer

Low oxygen levels within tumour cells (tumour hypoxia) is a major signal for these cancer cells to produce more blood vessels (angiogenesis) and rapidly grow. Not only does that make them much more aggressive, but it also makes them much more resistant to both chemotherapy and radiation therapy. This is truly a dangerous combination and why there has been so much attention in the medical field (and with oncologists) to reduce tumour hypoxia. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy is one of the most effective, and most practical, ways to alleviate tumour hypoxia.

Traumatic Brain Injury

A study looked at physiological changes that occurred in the brain with the application of hyperbaric therapy following traumatic brain injury. They noticed an improvement in the blood-brain barrier, a reduction in inflammation and inflammatory proteins, a reduction in both swelling and the size of the damage, and more importantly an improvement in neurological status including motor and cognitive function.

A study coming out of Thailand looked at applying 1.3ATA (low pressure hyperbaric oxygen) to autistic children. They pre-assessed them before the hyperbaric procedure and then re-evaluated them after only 10 sessions. Significant improvements were obtained from only 10 sessions.
